DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women’s tennis team makes its final road trip of the season as the Bulldogs travels to Bradley on Friday and Illinois State on Sunday. Drake enters the weekend with a 9-7 overall record and 1-2 in MVC play. The Bulldogs split their pair of MVC matches last weekend, first falling to Wichita State, but bounced back to beat Missouri State. Junior Summer Brills leads the team a 10-3 record as Drake’s top singles player. Sophomore Joely Lomas has tallied nine wins, while Tess Herder has recorded eight. The Bulldogs return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on April 22-23 as they close out the regular season against Evansville and Southern Illinois. Aimee Manfredo leads the Braves with 12 singles wins, followed by Mallini Wijesinghe and Alexa Brandt with 11 and 10, respectively. Illinois State will host Northern Iowa before squaring off against Drake. The Redbirds are 8-10 overall with a 2-1 MVC record after splitting their matches against Evansville and Southern Illinois last weekend. Valerija Gercar and Marcia Tere-Apisah are the only two players with a winning record. Gercar holds a 12-3 mark, while Tere-Apisah is 8-5 at the No. 1 singles spot.
