Watch Dave Matthews & Trey Anastasio’s Acoustic “Waste” From Radio City [Multi-Cam Video]

first_imgThis past Saturday, January 6th at Radio City Music Hall in New York, music fans from all over came together for an evening of charitable giving and fantastic music at A Concert For Island Relief. The show featured performances from Hurray For The Riff Raff, Aaron Neville, Trey Anastasio Band and, finally, a Dave Matthews solo acoustic set to close the evening.Trey Anastasio Shares Heartwarming Post About Tortola Visit Following Concert For Island ReliefHowever, while Dave’s set was predominantly a solo affair (aside from some added brass on “Mercy”, “Satellite”, and “Save Me”), the highlight of his set came at its end, when he returned to the stage and invited Anastasio to join him for a duet on the first of four encore songs.Trey took the stage with an acoustic guitar, and together the two ran through a beautiful version of Phish‘s “Waste”, written by Anastasio and Tom Marshall more than twenty years ago. Following the performance, which saw Trey and Dave trade verses before harmonizing on the chorus and bridge sections, Dave giddily leaned in to the microphone.”That’s Trey,” he remarked, pointing to Anastasio. “That’s my favorite song.”That assertion from Matthews has plenty of historical background. Dave Matthews Band covered the song 15 times on their 2001 tour, and two more times in 2002. Then, during Phish’s hiatus, Trey joined Dave on Dave & Friends tour, during which the pair would include an acoustic duo portion of their sets, covering songs from both Phish and Dave’s catalogues–often including “Waste”.Watch the multi-camera video (synced with taper audio) of Trey Anastasio and Dave Matthews playing Phish’s “Waste” below via YouTube user ChesterCopperpot5:For more videos and a full review from the memorable evening, head here.SETLIST: Dave Matthews | A Concert For Island Relief | Radio City Music Hall | New York, NY |  1/6/2017Set: Don’t Drink the Water, Stay or Leave, Funny the Way It Is, So Damn Lucky, Samurai Cop, Grey Street, Mercy*, Satellite*& Save Me*&, Some Devil, Dancing NanciesEncore: [email protected], The Maker#, Iko Iko#, I Want To Take You Higher#* w/ Rashawn Ross& w/ Ben The Sax [email protected] w/ Trey Anastasio# w/ Trey Anastasio Band, Rashawn Ross & Aaron Neville[h/t – JamBase]last_img read more

Manchester United boss goes for top UEFA job

first_imgDavid Gill, Manchester United Chief Executive, is to put his club allegiances to one side to become England’s representative on UEFA’s Executive Committee, succeeding outgoing UEFA vice-president Geoff Thompson on the influential 16-man board which decides on the policies of European football’s governing body.Gill is standing as the Football Association’s (FA) nominee at the UEFA Congress in May, where all 53 member nations will have a vote.He faces opposition from some UEFA representatives owing to his current status as an executive board member of the European Clubs’ Association (ECA). He would have to stand down from that organisation if he is elected to UEFA.Gill told the Press Association: “I fully understand that I will be representing the FA, I have been on the FA board for a number of years so I believe given my experience of club football and the way the FA operates I can play a key part in ensuring England is heard at the top table in UEFA. I fully understand the role and responsibility and who you are representing.”last_img read more
