Patiala: Stating that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is on a mission to make Punjab a power theft-free state, CMD Baldev Singh Sran revealed on Sunday that the corporation has successfully got the police remand of a Anand Nagar-B resident, Harbans Singh, who was nabbed from Rajpura along with his car and a variety of meter tampering instruments recently.While Singh is being questioned by the police, the information he has provided so far has led to PSPCL officials raiding locations in various parts of the state, uncovering as many as 24 cases of possible power theft in Bahadurgarh, Nabha Road, Baran, Sirhind Road, Charan Bagh, Model Town (Patiala), Bhawanigarh, and Kharar among others. FIRs against the suspected persons are expected to be lodged after the lab reports arrive today evening, PSPCL said in a statement. The power authority also said that they and police have got various traces about other likely wrongdoers operating in the state, aiding such activities. Sran said that PSPCL had unearthed a “very big nexus of power theft facilitators, as well as consumers, who are involved in this dirty racket and are playing with the economy of the state”. Sran said with the dynamic headship and unrelenting support of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, PSPCL would definitely achieve its mission of zero tolerance against power theft.
