SNY’s report adds:“Rival executives say that they are skeptical Syndergaard can bring that return, given his middling performance this season. If a team steps up, Brodie Van Wagenen will consider the offer. But he will also have to get creative about saving next year’s team, which will likely be without Zack Wheeler and Jason Vargas.”The Mets aren’t “soliciting offers” for Syndergaard but “multiple teams have contacted them to express interest,” according to an earlier report from MLB.com. The Padres have inquired about Syndergaard while the Brewers are “monitoring” his availability, according to MLB.com. “Some within the Astros organization are intrigued” by him, as well, that report says.The Mets entered the All-Star break with a 40-50 record and have lost 10 of their last 13. They’re seven games behind the Phillies for the second wild-card spot and trail the Braves by 13 1/2 games in the National League East.
