Drake Men’s Basketball vs. Lehigh Postgame Notes

first_imgDrake improved to 4-0 at home this season and has won eight-straight home games dating back to last season. The Bulldogs have 15-straight non-conference home games and are 24-5 at the Knapp Center over the last two seasons. Drake has won 17 of its last 21 games. The win was Drake’s third in as many meetings with Lehigh. The Bulldogs previously earned wins in 1984 and 1935. From 17:51 to 14:49 of the second half, Roman Penn scored or assisted on 13-straight points for the Bulldogs.  Drake has now held a lead of 19 points or greater in eight of its last 18 games. In its four wins this season, Drake has held all four opponents to less than 60 points. Drake is 8-1 over the past two seasons when holding opponents to less than 60 points. With 15:50 left in the first half, Brady Ernst checked into the game to make his Drake debut. The graduate transfer missed the Bulldogs’ first four games recovering from offseason back surgery. He collected two defensive rebounds in his first two minutes of action and saw three minutes of total action. Roman Penn scored 11 of his season-high 18 points in the first half on 4-of-6 shooting. Penn entered the game with a season-high of 13 points. He added a season-high 10 points. Garrett Sturtz’s 10 first-half rebounds were a career-high. He finished with 14 rebounds, six of them off the offensive glass. Lehigh scored 10 of its 33 first-half points off Drake turnovers.
